You can minimize or close the newstickers by holding your mousepointer above it, and then leftclick on the arrow which appears far to the right in the ticker.
You can also, when holding your mousepointer above a newsticker, as you might notice, STOP the newsticker. You can then use your computer mouse's left or right button (hold it down pressed) —and you have the ability to scroll the ticker to the left or to the right. Using only your mousebuttons.
